Mandy set up her workshop in 1983 after leaving the Royal College of Art, working primarily in non precious materials, usually anodised aluminium, producing one off and batch production jewellery, creating large, bold pieces which are both wearable and affordable.
Her three passions are colour, pattern and technique. Although trained as a jeweller, her work has been heavily influenced by both traditional and contemporary textiles.
The Colourful Marks collection is a further development of her Monochrome Marks collection, adding accents of colour and reflective finishes. The laser etched laminate is interlaced with stitching reminiscent of Indian kantha stitch; this has the function of linking the individual elements.
She has exhibited widely in the UK, Europe, Japan, USA and Canada, and is a member of the Makers Guild in Wales – where I first became aware of her work during our time in Pembrokeshire.
